Elementary School Newsletter 11.06.2023
Hello Elementary Families,
I hope you had a beautiful weekend and were able to enjoy the lovely weather! We got so lucky with the nice temperatures during the tree planting days on Friday & Sunday. If you did not know, our parent-run Beautification Committee was able to obtain a grant that awarded us 40 new trees! Thank you to all of our families and staff members who volunteered their time and energy to get the trees planted and beautify our campus. Our staff will be speaking with our students about how to help respect and care for our new trees. Some of them have been planted in areas that students wait and play at during morning drop off or dismissal. If families could also help by speaking to your children about respecting and caring for our trees, that would be helpful.
Gratitude Activity:
This month our SEI team is focusing on gratitude. We wanted to share with you something sweet they they did with the students they work with that really made some staff members feel special!
“During this season of thankfulness we wanted our students to understand that they are really grateful and lucky. This week we focused on giving back to those people in our lives who make life special here at our school community. Each student picked a person who they wanted to share a special message with and show that special person gratitude. It's important that we show the people in our lives how much they mean to us. Students walked around the building and shared their gratitude to students and staff. We continue with this throughout the month and also extend this beyond our school community.”
-Mrs. Harrison, Ms. Mercededs & Ms. Mares
Staff Highlights:
In this week’s newsletter we are highlighting our wonderful front desk worker, Ms. Riley, as well as our fabulous math and reading specialists.
Our First Assembly:
On the past Friday, we held our first Elementary assembly, starting by celebrating our fall sports and soccer teams. The festivities continued as we announced our Teeny 10 students and explained the remarkable work this group will undertake. The students were aware that during this assembly, we would acknowledge their hard work in iReady, providing them with the opportunity to participate in a fun activity – wrapping some of our staff members as mummies! It was a blast! The assembly concluded with a highlight dedicated to World Kindness Day. We're eagerly looking forward to more assemblies throughout the year to celebrate the wonderful achievements of our students.
