At Premier Charter School, learning goes beyond worksheets and memorization. Through Project Based Learning (PBL), students ask questions, solve problems, collaborate with others, and create meaningful work connected to the world around them.
We believe students learn best when they are actively engaged in the learning process. That’s why our classrooms are designed to spark curiosity, encourage exploration, and help students grow into curious and empowered learners.
What is Project Based Learning?
Project Based Learning is an approach where students learn by exploring authentic questions, challenges, and real-world problems over time. Instead of simply learning about a topic, students apply their learning through research, collaboration, creativity, and hands-on experiences.
At PCS, PBL helps students build strong academic knowledge while developing skills like communication, critical thinking, teamwork, and problem solving.
What PBL Looks Like at PCS
Project Based Learning happens across all grade levels and subject areas at PCS. Students may:
- Work together on group projects and presentations
- Investigate real-world challenges and community issues
- Participate in hands-on science and STEM activities
- Use creativity, research, and inquiry to explore new ideas
- Present their learning to classmates, families, or community members
- Connect learning across multiple subject areas
- Learn through outdoor exploration and experiences beyond the classroom

Learning Beyond Four Walls
Our 20+ acre South City campus gives students opportunities to learn far beyond the classroom walls. Outdoor spaces regularly become places for investigation, collaboration, creativity, and hands-on learning.
From environmental projects and outdoor STEM activities to collaborative challenges and exploration, students experience learning in ways that feel active, memorable, and meaningful.
